The experienced blueliner joins the club from rivals Braehead Clan.

Jackman’s hockey CV makes him the most experienced signing of Flyers’ EIHL era, and fans will be expecting him to play a big role on the ice in the forthcoming campaign.

He made over 230 appearances in the NHL, icing with Boston Bruins, Anaheim Ducks, Dallas Stars and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Jackman also plied his trade in the AHL, ECHL and Slovakia and Asia before arriving in the UK last season to ice with Braehead.

At 6.2 2’’ and 220lbs he brings some much needed size to the blue line.

Todd Dutiaume, head coach, said: ‘“Ric’s resume speaks for itself and I feel if I allow him to play to his strengths, he will be a huge asset for us.

‘‘He has the capability to see and make plays that pass a lot of players by and I’ll be trying to tap into that. I’m excited about Ric joining us.’’

With the club still to announce some key import slots - including its starting netminder and entire British contingent - Jackman’s capture gives the fans a new face to look forward to, and one they know from games against Braehead last season.

The player is also looking to the move from west to east.

Jackman said: ‘‘I enjoyed my time in the UK last season, but feel that I have more to offer.

‘‘I will be looking to make an impact this season.’’

He admitted he was looking forward to hitting the ice in Fife.

‘‘It was certainly a lively venue last season, so I am looking forward to being on the right side of the fans this season,’’ he added.

‘‘Todd is keen for the club to progress and win some silverware and I am 100% behind this.’’
