The line-up for ice hockey’s play-off finals weekend has now been confirmed - and Fife Flyers will take on Nottingham Panthers.

The duo were paired together after Panthers comfortably defeated Belfast Giants 3-1 to secure an aggregate victory of 7-4.

The teams will meet in the second semi-final on Saturday with a 5.00 p.m. face-off, following on from the clash between trophy holders, Coventry Blaze, and Cardiff Devils at 1.00 p.m.

The winners then meet in the showcase final on Sunday afternoon which has a 4.00 p.m. face-off.

Flyers and Panthers have met four times across this season.

Flyers won 5-2 on home ice, and were frustrated at not making it a clean sweep when Panthers returned in March and snatched a 2-1 overtime victory.

In Nottingham, the games went with the home team on scorelines of 5-2 and 3-2 - but Todd Dutiaume, head coach, will be confident his side is playing its best hockey in time for the semi-final showdown, and more than capable of battling all the way to Sunday’s final.

Flyers will head south with a huge travelling support for an event that is the highlight of every hockey fan’s calendar.

Many had their tickets and accommodation booked before the weekend’s results confirmed Flyers’ place - and they will now be joined by many more currently busy making travel plans to Nottingham.
