Fife Flyers player announces retirement
Fife Flyers’ defenceman Scott Aarssen has announced his retirement from the sport.
The 32-year old blue liner said it was “time to say goodbye to the sport that has given me so much,” adding: “It’s been a great run but it is time to officially hang them up.”

Hide AdAarssen confirmed his retirement with a statement on his Twitter account.
The defenceman was part of the UK’s hockey scene for seven seasons, six of them spent in Scotland – four with Braehead Clan, and the last two with Fife. he also iced with Sheffield Steelers before moving to Kirkcaldy.
A native of St Catharin’s, Ontario, he was part of the London Knights organisation in Canada prior to moving to the UK.
In his statement he said: “I can’t believe I was able to play this long! I was lucky enough to be able to play in front of my kids, and that is something I will cherish forever.

Hide AdAarssen said he was “extremely grateful” for the opportunities and experiences the sport had given him across a 17-year pro career. He added: “I have met so many incredible people and created lifelong memories.”
Paying tribute to his team-mates and fans, he also thanked his family for their support, adding: “Every night I laced them up, I was playing for you guys out there.”
