Justin Fox back at Fife Flyers for second season

He’s the sixth player to be announced for the 2016-17 season.

Fox is the fourth returnee from the line-up which reached the play-off finals weekend - he’ll team up once more with Ryan Dingle, Shayne Stockton and Phil Paquet along with newcomers Matt Sisca and David Turon.

But fans are still angling to see who else is in the line-up with a number of slots yet to be revealed well in to the summer recess, including their British contingent.

Fox joined Flyers from ECHL outfit Quad City Mallards.

He logged some 53 points from 62 games - 24 goals and 29 assists - and he’ll be looking to maintain that output as the club targets a tilt at some silverware.

His return was welcomed by Todd Dutiaume, head coach, who will be looking to him to make an impact when the puck drops come September.

“With Foxy back, that’s us retained our top three scorers from last season, which was a goal of ours from the start,’’ he said. 

“Not only did Justin have an impact on ice, he was a positive influence in the room – so much so, he was rewarded with a letter on his jersey. 

“I expect even more from Justin this season and, with a year playing in the EIHL under his belt, the experience he has gained this will certainly help him for the forthcoming season.’’

He also wants Fox to help the new faces settle into life into an old-style hockey town.

“He’ll be able to assist our new players adjust and settle in quickly in Fife,’’ he said.

‘‘We have improved each of the past five seasons and the aim is to build on this and consistently bring performances that will lead us to success. Justin is a big piece of that puzzle.”

On his return to Kirkcaldy, Fox said: “I am extremely excited to be back.

“Last season, we made a lot of strides in the right direction in tying the conference and making the play-off finals weekend, so we want to build on this for next season.

“I believe the team is moving in the right direction and I can’t wait to be a part of it again next season.”
