Medals and PBs all around at swimming gala

Cupar & District Swimming Club produced some impressive results at the Geordie Wotherspoon Gala and the Fife Championships.

The event brought the Fife Novice League to a close.

A team of 22 swimmers took part in the Geordie Wotherspoon.

Callum Lindsay won gold in the 50m backstroke with 43.06 secs, while Inver Petrie won gold with 49.26 secs and Milli Arkwright silver in 50m breaststroke with 46.82 secs.

Maisie Watson won silver with 37.00 secs and Theo Ellis-Morton bronze with 39.59 secs in 50m freestyle, while Andrew Sanderson won silver with 20.83 secs in the 25m freestyle.

Stand-out personal bests were achieved by Cameron Blair (50m butterfly), Saif Azzam (50m backstroke) and Rebecca Black (25m backstroke).

In the afternoon 16 swimmers competed in the Fife Championships with Sophie Juskowiak winning silver in 100m IM (1.20.31 secs) and 50m breaststroke (41.65 secs).

Eve Hewitt took bronze (43.29 secs) in 50m breaststroke and fourth in the 100m IM with a PB.

Findlay Baillie secured bronze in 50m breaststroke (37.46 secs).

The team boasted 34 personal bests, with a set of double-figure pbs from Rory Miles (19 sec off) and Micah van Blerk (13.83 sec off) in the 100m IM and Connie Harrison (17.31 sec off) in the 50m butterfly; Oliver Goad and Amy Anderson (100m IM), Jack Orr (50m backstroke) and Lucy Robertson (50m breaststroke) also secured pb times.

Barely a second separated Eve Hewitt, Kate Dalglish, Amy Anderson and Hannah Staal in the 10-12 girls 50m freestyle.
