With only five weeks to go to the 2015 London Marathon, Derek Rae from Kirkcaldy has turned in an outstanding performance in the Alloa Half Marathon.

Derek was involved in an exciting sprint finish for joint 11th place in 1 hour 13.35 minutes - an improvement on his 2014 time of 1:14.55 - and considering the injury challenges he has had over the winter, both coach and athlete are delighted with the performance.

Derek has been selected for the first time to represent Great Britain in the T46 IPC World Marathon Championships which are an integral part of the 2015 London Marathon.

Derek was destined to run internationally following steady improvement over the past couple of years and a personal best run of 2:44.43 in the 2014 London Marathon. Under the watchful eye of coach Ron Morrison from Fife AC, Derek continues to produce quality runs in all the designated events leading up to London 2015.
