In a humdinger of a Division Two Cup final at Lochore last Friday evening Glenrothes Amateurs lost 6-4 to Benarty.
It was pretty much the proverbial game of two halves. Benarty led 4-1 at one stage, but a great fightback from Glens saw them get right back into the fray levelling the match at 4-4. A missed penalty then cost them dear and a further two goals from Benarty, the league leaders, secured them the trophy.
Saturday’s league games saw the local Fife Amateur Football Association Division Two sides once again hit the goal trail.
Leslie Hearts returned from St Andrews with all three points following a 6-1 win over the students of the United Colleges.
Balgonie Scotia also ran in the goals in their away clash with FC Bayside, winning 8-0. In a local derby Freuchie defeated Lomond United 4-0.
In the Premier Division, Lomond Vics and Rosebank Rangers shared the points in a 2-2 draw at Falkland.
In the Glendale Plastics League it was a bad week for Star Hearts who will be glad to see the back of this season.
In midweek, they lost out 6-1 and 5-1 to Cupar Hearts and Burntisland Shipyard respectively and on Saturday leaked the goals again in going down 1-6 to Rosyth Civil Service at Treaton Park.
A penalty shoot-out loss to Strathmiglo United saw Balgonie Scotia bow out of the Scottish Brewers Cup, after the sides had ended the 90 minutes at 2-2.
This week Scotia host Fair City in the league, while Star have no Saturday match but await Eastvale tomorrow night [Thursday].
