Dunnikier 1st XI hosted Heriot Watt 2nd XI in their first home East League Division One match on Saturday.
Heriots won the toss and put Dunnikier into bat on another soft track.
Both Dunnikier openers were dismissed early on and the scoreboard read 27 for two wickets after 10 overs.
New signing Matiullah scored 13 before being clean bowled.
Safraz made 16, caught behind and the total was now 80 for four wickets after 27 overs.
Tariq Aziz (49) and Usmain Asiman (34) put on a patient 70 run partnership taking the score to 152.
A flurry of wickets fell but captain Ashgar Ali and partner Rehman Yousaf steadied the ship and Dunnikier closed on 195 for 9 off their allotted 50 over – a score boosted by some erratic Heriot bowling, 17 wides and 18 no balls.
The Heriot openers made their intentions clear by smashing the first ball over cover for a one bounce four.
They continued along the same path until Rowley came on and clean bowled Thomson for 25 and with Saj Saeed backing up at the other end, four wickets for 49, as Dunnikier made gradual inroads to the Heriot batting.
Once again the fielders backed up the bowlers taking six catches in all and when Babaar resumed his spell he finished off the tail end taking three wickets for 25 runs leaving Heriots all out for 118.
A comprehensive win in the end for Dunnikier who will expect a more challenging task away to Watsonians at the weekend.
