OVER 50 golfers with a physical, sensory or learning disability took part in the 2012 Fife Open Golf Championships at Elmwood Golf Club.

The event is a partnership between Elmwood College and Disability Sport Fife, and a number of local players performed well with the Robert Gough Centre (Leven) entering for the first time.

Derek Forrester was first to do the centre proud, winning a bronze medal in the novice Division One skills tests.

In the nine-hole competition there were four divisions with the centre’s Craig Bernard winning the silver medal and Jamie Hermiston the bronze in the Division Three competition.

The 18-hole competitions were won by Lewis Davie from Tayport, Lloyd Simpson from Lochgelly North School and Mark Oliver from Woodmill High School.

The next competition in the three series of events will be in Inverness later this month.
