Thousands of motorsport fans will flock to Fife this weekend as Britian’s top bike racing series, the MCE British Superbike Championship, screeches into Knockhill Racing Circuit.

All the 160mph action kicks off on Friday with a series of warm up, practice and qualifying sessions, before riders chase that all-important pole position during Saturday’s final qualifying, ahead of the big race day on Sunday.

Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne heads the title fight as the former champion continues his quest to smash the record books and secure an unprecedented fourth title.

Home support will be for the second Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki of Stuart Easton as the rider from Hawick bids for his first podium of the season at his local circuit.

This year will also see Knockhill celebrate its 40th anniversary, with support from Homecoming Scotland 2014 and Fife Council.

A special marquee housing riders and racing machinery from each of the four decades of Knockhill will be on show throughout the weekend.

A number of memorable machines including Jock Taylor’s World Championship winning TZ Sidecar will be on display, amongst others.
