Fife AC juniors Layla Zuill and Ellie Eboji were in action at the Scottish Indoor Age Group Championships at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.

Both showed up well on the day and competed against a top class athletics field.

Layla placed fourth in 28.53 in a strong U13 girls’ 200m final, which saw the championship best being broken by visiting English athlete Mia Morrisroe of Liverpool Harriers.

Earlier on the same day Layla had also destroyed her previous personal best and jumped to third in the Scottish U13 200m rankings for 2016 when placing second in her semi-final in an excellent 28.01.

Ellie then ended the day with two excellent personal bests in the 60m and the 200m.

She placed fifth in the U13 girls’ 60m semi-final in 8.84 and 3rd in the U13 girls’ 200m semi-final in 28.31.

In the latter event, she was unlucky to miss a spot in a high quality final by just one place and one tenth of a second.

At the Smokies Women’s 10 Mile Road Race in Arbroath, Fife AC had three women in the top 15 out of nearly 300 runners.

Katie Jones was the club’s top finisher, placing second in 1.03.54 behind Joanna Murphy of Carnegie Harriers.

Keren McPherson was 5th in 1.08.36 and Hilary Ritchie was 14th in 1.12.38.

Together, they were second team behind Carnegie Harriers.
