There were a number of superb performances from Fife AC athletes this week on the roads, hills and cross country.
One of the top performances came from talented junior Anna Hedley who won the Scottish Schools Cross Country Championships P6 girls’ race. Representing Strathkinness Primary School, Anna took the prestigious title in 6.06 ahead of the High School of Glasgow’s Anya McLean in 6.13.
US-based Andrew Lemoncello was second in a high quality field at the Great Edinburgh 10 Mile in 50.02.
In the Asics Manchester Marathon, experienced marathoner Beverley Gibson ran 3.06.30 to place 7th V40 while her husband Luca Basso was close behind in 3.07.13.
It was a successful day out for the Rees family at Fife AC’s popular Norman’s Law Hill Race, with brothers Logan, Tristan and George Rees heading the field of 170 runners and older sister Halina winning the senior women’s race.
Oldest brother Logan made a welcome return to racing after a spell of injury, winning in 30.09 from brothers Tristan and George who ran 30.35 and 30.58 respectively. As the first Fife AC runner home, Logan also picked up the Alan Milligan Memorial Quaich.
Halina ran well over the mixed terrain route to win the senior women’s race in 37.31 ahead of Fife AC’s Alison McGill in 38.04.
The Emily Hill Race for children was won by 12 year old Dundee Hawkhill Harrier Blair Scott in 7.23 ahead of Kenny McIvor (unatt.) in 8.30 and Finlay McDonald (unatt.) in 8.39. First girl home was Alice Nichol of Perth Strathtay Harriers in 8.49.
