Grand Prix win

UP and coming martial arts student James Ford has picked up a Scottish Grand Prix gold medal, following a tournament win in Wishaw.

James, a third dan, also collected a trophy for winning the most points for all four karate competitions in which he took part.

The youngster adds these gongs to others he won earlier in the season.

James had trained five days a week in preperation for his final tournament of 2011 at the local Dowies Gym.

He can be seen here collecting his trophy from Anton Putka of Dowies.

Although the season is now finished, James will be keeping up his training throughout the Christmas period so he can begin next year on a high and look to defend his Scottish championship medal.

His instructor, James Ford Snr, also hopes to involve James in other tournaments both south of the border and in Ireland as well.
