Haddies head out in difficult conditions

Despite a horrendous morning of rain and gale-force winds in Scotland, a few hardy Haddies tackled the local Parkruns.

Scotland battened down the hatches at the weekend as Storm Desmond whipped across the nation.

Football and rugby games were called off, but our area’s runners ventured out regardless as they braved the elements.

R. Shaw. at the Kirkcaldy event. completed the course in 21.25.

At Craigtoun Park. completing the St Andrews event were C. McKie 21.02, B. Simpson 23.20 and D. Nuttall 27.49.

Across the border, taking time out from her Christmas shopping trip to London.

Ailsa Cruickshanks ran the Highbury Fields Park run, finishing second female in 22.31.

She was beaten to the title of first female by her big sister, Jennifer, who ran 22.11.

Sunday was the second race in the popular Frostbite Trail Series.

A chilly sunny morning greeted the runners, who tackled the usual mix of mud and water crossings over the difficult four-mile trail course.

Eight Haddies took part in the local event.

C. McKie, C. Broome, B. Simpson, F. Cruickshanks, J. Hay, Y. Dehn, J. Anderson and A. Small all represented the Haddies.

Wednesday evening’s training is the December Mars Bar Race.
