The Scottish road cycling season got underway on Saturday with the first round of the road race series at Gifford in East Lothian.

First year junior, Tom Arnstein, took a superb win over more experienced senior riders, after attacking almost from the start and being joined by another seven riders, this group stayed clear for the rest of the race.

Team Leslie Bike Shop/Right Move Windows had mixed fortunes when Andy Brierley crashed after two miles, delaying team-mate Matthew Hamilton.

Allan Clark, Stuart McCluskey, Euan McPherson, John McCaffery and Gary McCrae from the team all made attempts to cross to the break which proved unsuccessful and they finished safely in the bunch.
