Aston Martin GT ace Jonny Adam is set to contest his first race in the US after a late call up for the Rolex 24 at Daytona this weekend.

The Kirkcaldy driver got the shout from TRG Aston Martin Racing having tested with the squad earlier this month and passed with flying colours.

Adam will join fellow Scot Calum Lockie as well as Robert Nimkroff, Peter McIntosh and Max Riddle in the #009 V12 Vantage to contest the GTD class in the 52nd edition of the famous race at the Daytona International Speedway.

Adam said: “It all came together at the last minute but I know the team and the car from testing with them and it will be my third 24 hour race, so I’m going into it well prepared.

“It will be nice to finally make my US race debut as I’ve tested over there a few times now.

“I couldn’t believe how many people turned up to watch that, so the atmosphere should be amazing come race weekend.

“TRG are a really professional outfit and have had plenty of success in the past with other marques, and I’m looking forward to helping them do the same now they are an Aston Martin team.

“We’ve got a great mix of youth and experience in the line-up which is ideal.

“Our recent three day test was very productive so there is good baseline setup to work with, and if we can keep our nose clean early in the race I believe we can challenge for a strong result in our class.”

Adam will not be alone in flying the flag for Kirkcaldy in Daytona. Peter Dumbreck is also competing in a Ferrari F458 for Krohn Racing.
