THE Fife Lawn Bowls Championships, organised by Disability Sport Fife and supported by the Beveridge Park Bowling Club, has been hailed as a success.

The championships included a number of Scotland’s leading bowlers with a physical, sensory or learning disability.

At stake were regional titles plus the opportunity for bowlers to be selected for the inter-region test match for bowlers with a learning disability and for the National Lawn Bowls Championships.

In the section for wheelchair bowlers Wullie Harrison from Glenrothes took the title.

Martin Hunter from Burntisland won the open mixed-section for ambulant visually impaired and physically disabled players and in the restricted section for physically disabled and visually impaired bowlers Kirkcaldy’s Stuart Thomson won the final.

There were also four sections for players with a learning disability and in the Group C men’s event Fergus Wilson from West Fife Community Support Services was the winner. In the Group B event Gary Lindsay from the Robert Gough Centre in Leven won the title.

The women’s open section saw Wendy Thomson from Dalgairn Centre in Cupar win and in the men’s open section for players with a learning disability Craig Donaldson from St Clair Centre took the title of Fife champion for 2012. See Classified for full squad.
