GLENROTHES return to the quest for promotion on Saturday after their latest cup hopes vanished in heartbreaking fashion, reports MIKE DELANEY.
A sudden death penalty miss by goalkeeper, Jamie Roberts saw them exit the East of Scotland Cup.
A John Martin double had the Warout Stadium team seemingly on east street, until Newtowngrange Star pulled a goal back through Steven Thomson seven minutes before half-time, then equalised with around the same amount of time remaining before the final whistle.
The resultant spot-kicks defeat to the East Super League club - and particularly the manner in which it happened - was a sore one to take for Archie Wyse’s who had gone out of the Scottish Junior Cup the previous weekend.
They now await Arniston Rangers as they attempt to keep their East Premier title hopes alive.
