Glenrothes Cricket Club will take their place at the top table of the Scottish game after winning promotion to the CSL Eastern Premier Division.
The Gilvenbank Park invincibles followed up an unbeaten league season by brushing aside Gordonians on Saturday in the CSL Eastern play-off to book their place in the top flight with a nine wicket win.
After narrowly missing out on promotion last season, there is understandable delight at the town club following the considerable investment it has made in its facilities in recent years.
Robbie Wright, team captain, beamed: “I’m immensely proud of the whole squad and everyone that’s taken part for the team and behind the scenes.
“It’s not easy going unbeaten all season but we’ve managed to do it with lots of pressure at times in some close games.
“Everyone is looking forward to the winter off and looking onto what will no doubt be a very challenging season next year against the very best players in Scotland.”
Ally Sim, club chairman, added: “Myself and all at the club couldn’t be prouder of what Robbie Wright and his team have achieved this season.”
