Despite being some way off full fitness, Burntisland athlete Ryan Oswald left the rest of the field standing at the Scottish Senior Championships.
The 24-year-old won both the 100m and 200m at the event in Glasgow to keep him firmly on track for a place at next year’s Commonwealth Games in this country.
Ryan had been struggling with a nerve problem in his glute in the build up to the event, but did his best to put the injury to one side.
“I’d been unable to run in the build up to the championships,” Ryan told the Press.
“I was pretty tentative coming out of the blocks and watching the video back I was well down in the first 30 metres.
“I wasn’t too worried about my times, I just wanted to get through without doing any damage.”
With Glasgow 2014 around the corner, Ryan is on course to reach the qualifying times needed for a place.
“If I have a good pre-season over the winter and put in the hard work then I should make the times,” he said.
“The amount of Scottish sprinters has slipped in recent years so I want to get back up there.”
