Denbeath went into this match needing a victory to enhance their chances of promotion.
But, in the end, they had to settle for a draw.
The game started with the home side having the most possession but not creating any chances.
Kirkcaldy then started coming into the game as the first half went on and, as often happens, they took the lead with their first attempt on goal when the YMCA centre-half flicked on past the Denbeath ‘keeper from a corner.
That goal seemed to give Denbeath a shake as they started creating more chances. Connolly missed from 10 yards out and Coventry forced the ‘keeper to make a good save.
Denbeath then got their much-deserved equaliser on the half hour with O`Sullivan putting a diagonal ball into the box which was met by Armitt, who headed home.
Kirkcaldy hit the bar from about 20 yards just before the break and Denbeath had another two chances, with Coventry hitting the post and Armitt having a header cleared off the line.
The second half started with both teams creating half chances but the match tempo was interrupted with a series of bookings by the referee.
Despite that, the Kirkcaldy number nine should have won it for his side but missed an open goal from a yard out. Coventry also had another attempt cleared off the line but, in the end, it finished up all square.
