SIX young Largo cricketers have represented the Scottish Caledonia Academy team at an event in St Andrews.
While a number of Largo’s junior players are regularly involved with the Cricket Scotland-backed development set-up, an additional three were drafted in to bolster the shorthanded Caley squad to face Kinloch.
The new recruits, U18s Andy Robertson, David Scott and Stevie Warrender, are all Largo first XI regulars and all made useful contributions for Caley in a low-scoring match. They joined club mates Alex Anderson, Drew Macfarlane and Andrew Eglinton in making up the team.
Robertson(19) was the top scorer for the Academy side which struggled on a difficult damp wicket, especially after the departure of Scotland regular Ross MacLean for 16. The young team was bowled out for 109 by Kinloch.
Defending such a small total was never going to be easy but Warrender and Scott both made inroads into the Kinloch wickets, claiming two wickets each in their economic spells. Kinloch however, were able to make the 110 required with four wickets in hand.
On Sunday, Largo’s Social Squad hit 153 for seven to win against visitors Almond Valley from Perth.
