The final match in the Fife T20 eight-a-side league took place at Broomhall, near Charleston, with the Fife Squires running out convincing winners by 84 runs.
Entering the competition late after the withdrawal of Freuchie, the Squires took on the best of the Fife clubs in a series of matches that proved exciting for both the cricketers and spectators alike.
After losing their first two games, the youngsters quickly adapted their play and finished with six straight wins from six to take the title.
Eddie Gibbs, CEO of FifeT20 sponsors LiveSport.co.uk, commented: “The inaugural FifeT20 has benefited from one of the driest summers in recent times and it’s been fantastic to have almost all of the matches played as scheduled.
“A full run of fixtures always ensures the best team win the league and there is no doubt that Gary Wilkinson and his young Fife Squires team have thoroughly deserved to come out on top.”
Players from Largo, Broomhall, Glenrothes and Dalgety Bay all also played some part in the successful eight-a-side league events.
