Despite dropping temperatures and occasional flurries of hail, Largo’s hardy cricketers got their pre-season programme underway with an informal pairs competition at East Drive.

In conditions where at times surviving hypothermia was as important as scoring runs, taking wickets or holding catches club captain Nicky Rintoul and the returning ‘Tiger’ Dathorne emerged as winners scoring 34 runs from their five overs.

Club president, Dick Dakin, expressed the hope that this coming weekend’s warm-up matches against Dundee High School FPs (Saturday) and Rossie Priory (Sunday) would be played in conditions more conducive to the summer game.
