St Monans Swallows.................4
AFTER an unlucky and disappointing exit from the Scottish Cup the previous week, Swallows made the journey to Queensferry for this league encounter where they looked to make amends.
Both teams started in attacking mode with the ball moving quickly from end to end.
It was St Monans who scored first when Young stooped low to head in off the post.
Swallows’ defensive problems continued when they carelessly lost two goals in as many minutes from separate goalmouth scrambles.
However, Shepherd equalised just before half-time when he drove home a loose ball after good work from Gordon.
Albert opened the second half strongly and made advances on the away goal.
It was no surprise when they regained the lead, as bad marking allowed an easy opening to score.
Swallows fought back down the slope, though, and Patterson drove a left-foot shot high into the net from an excellent Young lay-off.
Both teams were now going for the winner and a number of attempts were blocked.
Smith, though, was the man of the moment and he stroked the ball home for what would prove to be the winner.
Queensferry threw all they had at the visitors as they looked to claw back a point but Swallows held on to gain a much-needed victory.
