A YOUNG Ladybank gymnast’s fantastic achievements have been rewarded with a top national award.

Thomas Cameron (11) has been named the Scottish Junior Male Gymnast of the Year based on his excellent results in 2010.

Thomas, a P7 pupil at Ladybank Primary, began the year by winning the U-11 Scottish Championships, taking gold in parallel bars, high bar, rings and pommel, as well as silver in floor and vault.

He then represented Scotland in the U-13 Celtic Cup, finishing in second place overall despite being the youngest member of the team and a full two years younger than the winner.

The year ended with Thomas coming top for his age in the U-12 British Championships, where he picked up silver and bronze medals and finished fourth overall.

His ambition now is to qualify to represent Scotland in the Commonwealth Games.
