It was a night of shocks and surprises as the top two suffered their first defeat of the season this week in the East Fife Soccersixes Premier Division held at Fife Institute.

Previously unbeaten Blue Order, who set a record for goals scored during the past three weeks, were given a lesson by Green Brigade as they went down 7-3. Derek Wallace grabbed a hat-trick for Order who were well beaten but they remain top of the table on goal difference. Mark Laing (2), Liam Ivory (2), Mark McCathie and Bryzo Strachan were among the goals for Brigade who now have their sights set on top spot.

Multiple Scoregasm missed the chance to leapfrog Order at the top as they were narrowly beaten 3-2 by #Heels. Jack Thomson inspired his men to a morale boosting victory, only their second of the season, as Scoregasm were left shell-shocked.

Nantaster Utd, who have replaced Convicks in the league after they moved into the new Tuesday Division One, battled out a superbly entertaining game with Inter UG who picked up only their second point of the season as the match finished three goals apiece. Ryan Reid, Gordon Mathieson and Scott Robertson were on target for Nantaster.

Bayern Bru narrowed the gap on the top sides with a convincing 10-4 success against Jam City courtesy of goals from Sean Smith (3), Ian Hepburn (2), Mark Hunter (2), Martin Brown and Matty Wood.

Reigning champions Darren FC, who looked down and out a few weeks ago after a disastrous run of form, are now back within touching distance of the top sides after they battled out a hard fought 1-0 win against Inter Methil who would have gone third had they won the game.

League Secretary Paul Spacey said: “The season is now halfway through and it could not be closer at the top with just a few points separating the teams although Green Brigade have a couple of games in hand and will be looking to close the gap over the next two weeks when they play their double points fixtures.

“Overall it is looking like the best season we have had since the league started a few years ago which is great for everyone involved.”

In the newly-formed Division One, #Heels are the early leaders after a 5-0 win against Inter Maheen.

Dinamo Needarest got their season off to a winning start with a narrow 1 -0 success against Convicks who have switched from the Premier Division. Greig Jackson was the hero for Dinamo as he scored the only goal of the game.

Blue Brazil proved too strong for Rothes Allstars as they coasted to a 4-1 success while Real Hazbeens picked up two points thanks to a 4-0 win against Barcelona Young Boys.

Kirkcaldy Villa and Friendly Flys were without a fixture this week and will kick off their campaigns next week.
