WAID Buccaneers (over-35s) recently gave the Golden Oldies rugby festival in Perth a try.
In scorching sunshine, first up against the East Neuk side were hosts Perthshire but, unsually, the game finished scoreless.
Next on were Hillfoots where Waid emerged victorious with three tries by David Brown, Chris Sneddon and Iain Brocklebank. Waid then played Biggar in their third game but a poor first half saw them lose three cheap tries. A comeback saw tries from Richard Dyce and Michael Adamson but the game was lost.
Waid’s best performance of the day came against Brechin with six unanswered tries, through Brown, Brocklebank, Bill Hughes (2), Eric Anderson and Stephen Denny.
Finally, in searing heat, Waid took on the Mackie Mammoths and Colin Inglis scored the decisive try to secure victory.
