Across the board shutdown on bowling events

The COVD-19 virus has put paid to bowling in Scotland for the foreseeable future - the first time this has happened since the end of the first World War in 1918. Bowls Scotland has announced that they have cancelled all events for this season.

If there is to be any play, later in the season, they will make a further announcement.

Fife Bowling Association have followed suit, as well as the Tayside League, and the Scottish Young Bowlers Association.

It is certain that other local inter-club competitions such as the Cupar and District Seniors league and the North Fife Bowling Associations will follow the advice.

Due to the Government restrictions, clubs, essentially, are closed, and this will cause problems, because even when shut, they will have certain bills to pay, and it is certain that clubs will require to rely on members subscriptions to remain solvent.

With regard to indoor bowling, East Fife shut its doors on Monday evening, March 16, and all clubs will now have done likewise.

It does appear that there will be no chance to get the season’s Club Finals played.

The parent body, the Scottish Indoor Bowling Association have suspended all their outstanding competitions and they have provisionally rescheduled them for September/October.
