The cup was presented in 1951 by former President A W ( Wilfie) Keith who ran a pharmacy business in the town.

The competition has been keenly contested in the 70 years since then and is a favourite event in the club’s calendar.

This year’s tournament director Angus Mitchell was on hand with advice on compliance with the current rigorous regulations.

Some 14 Rotarians took part on a sunny, chilly evening. David Bateman and Colin Brown both finished with 47. However, David won second spot due to his better back nine. But the clear winner with 41 points was Alan Constable who has won on no fewer than five previous occasions.

In accepting the cup Alan thanked Angus and his team for the excellent organisation and his fellow competitors for such a competitive and enjoyable, albeit socially distanced, evening .

He also complimented the Ladies Putting Club on the high quality of the course.
