Connor Syme and Calum Hill tee off 2020 Hero Open campaigns

Connor Syme is aiming to bounce back from his missed cut at last week’s Betfred British Masters when he tees off at the 2020 Hero Open.

But for Calum Hill, he’s hoping to build on a decent British Masters and a top 30 finish.

It could have been even better for the Kinross pro had weekend rounds of 72 and 73 not put a dent in his opening 36 holes when he carded a 67 and 66.

Sadly Connor, from Drumoig, was able to prepare for the next stop on the European Tour earlier than he would have hoped, his two rounds of 72 seeing him miss the cut at the event won by Italian Renato Parratore.

The Hero Open, being played at the Forest of Arden Marriott Hotel & Country Club in Birmingham, is the second of six events being played on these shores as part of the UK Swing.

The tournament teed off on Thursday morning with Connor partnering fellow Scot Scott Jamieson and Swede Niklas Lemke.

Calum also has some Scottish company, opening his tournament beside David Law and Irishman Gavin Moynihan.

Miguel Ángel Jiménez made European Tour history on day one of the 2020 Hero Open when the ever popular Spaniard started his 707th event and became the all time record appearance maker on the European Tour, passing 2002 Ryder Cup winning captain, Sam Torrance.
