The organisers pulled the plug on the event, which was due to take place on the Links on Monday, July 20, at the weekend.

Cupar, Ceres and Markinch have already cancelled their events leaving only Thornton, St Andrews and Inverkeithing of the Fife games who are members of the Scottish Highland Games Association to make a decision.

The Bowhill Highland Games, which were making a return to the circuit this year after a long abscence, were due to take place in May but have been postponed to a rescheduled date in September.

The season runs from mid-May until mid September but, to date, 30 of the 59 SHGA member games have been cancelled.

A number of the Games scheduled for later in the season are holding off in making a decision hoping there might be a change in the situation.
