St Andrews United were hit for six by Dunipace during an afternoon that’ll be one to forget for the town side.

The visitors had goalie Shaw to thank for keeping the scores level in the opening stages but there was little he could do when Stevenson fired Dunipace into a deserved lead.

The goal was the catalyst for the floodgates to open and they duly did, a cross into the box diverted into the net by Potter. Shaw was by far the busier of the two ‘keepers and he was again called into action 10 minutes from the break to block a Dunipace effort.

Kyle Wilson passed up the best Saints could muster but he shot harmlessly over the bar.

They were made to pay when Craig increased the home side’s advantage.

United tried to eat into the lead and an Owen Andrew drive was well held.

Again, the missed chance proved costly and the home side went in at the break four goals to the good when McFadden’s free-kick was held up in the air and caught Shaw out.

Saints had the advantage of having the wind at their backs in the second half and went close through Ross Cunningham.

Dunipace were able to keep United at arm’s length and when the chance presented itself, they managed to get up the park themselves and add another goal.

The home side raced up the left wing and created an opening for Craig which he took with both hands, beating Shaw. The scoring was rounded off when Calley netted number six.

Saints: Shaw, S Cunningham, Potter, Campbell, Rendall, McInnes, Penman, R Cunningham, Grady (Falconer63), Andrew, Wilson (Quinn81).

Subs:O’Connor, King, Moran, M Fleming.
