In March each year East Fife Sports Council (EFSC) holds its Sports Awards Ceremony celebrating and recognising the sporting achievements of athletes, coaches and volunteers in East Fife.

In 2020, this was sadly cancelled two days before the event was to be held in Cupar Corn Exchange and welcoming 200 guests, including our local sponsors and supporters.

After lockdown restrictions were eased the shortlisted individuals were surveyed on how we could best hold an event, and an outside socially distanced handover event in Cupar with a photographer was arranged.

Again this was cancelled only two days before the event when restrictions changed. In October, finally, the trophies were handed over to the winners and runners-up by EFSC working closely with partner Active Schools. The voluntary committee who run EFSC wanted to highlight the extraordinary accomplishments of the 33 individuals who were chosen to represent not only the best in elite sport during 2019 but also importantly those who offered sheer dedication and unstinting support in helping to coach, develop and run their local clubs – without the network of clubs and their hard-working athletes and volunteers East Fife’s rural communities would not have the amazing choice of sports available.

EFSC looks forward to working with its member clubs in returning to their activities and to another celebration in the near future.
