Fife Flyers fans look ahead as EIHL unveils start date for 2021-22 season

Fife Flyers could hit the ice again in September after the Elite League unveiled a start date for the 2021-22 season.

The sport has been on hold since the start of the pandemic, which wiped out the closing weeks of the last campaign.

But, today, the EIHL took the first step towards a full return to action with confirmation of a start date.

The puck will drop on the new season on the weekend of September 25-26, and run all the way through to the play-off finals weekend on April 23-24, 2022.

The league will hold its annual fixtures meeting as usual at the end of June with the full schedule coming out in July.

It will give fans more details on the league, play-offs and Challenge Cup format in the coming weeks.

The start date is just a few weeks later than normal, and ends speculation of a delayed return as late as October or even November.
