The film follows Taylor as she approaches her 16th birthday and moves into the adult league, competing against men twice her age, some of whom have been racing for years.

It is a dangerous sport – Taylor lost her boyfriend in a tragic accident at the track when they were 11 years old.

She continues to race in his memory, his picture painted on the side of her helmet.

Shot between West Lothian and the Cowdenbeath Racewall in Fife, the film is part of a new talent initiative by the Scottish Documentary Institute, funded by Screen Scotland.

During production, the film had to contend with the escalating Covid-19 situation, as lockdown approached and sporting events were being cancelled.

Director Patrick Steel said: “We were shooting right up to the first lockdown, so the film is a nice reminder of a time when we could all attend big stadium events together.

"Hopefully it will give audiences a taste of the feelgood atmosphere of a race meet as well as an insight into what it takes to be a champion like Taylor.”

Stock car racing is very male-dominated, and producer Charlotte Hailstone believes Taylor’s story could be an inspiration to others.

“I hope that by watching the film and seeing Taylor’s example, girls and young women will be inspired to make their mark.”
