Glenrothes racer Kyle Irvine races through the field but can’t snatch win

The stock car drivers were in good form at the closed door stock car meeting at the Cowdenbeath Racewall on a pleasant but chilly Saturday afternoon where the ministox drivers stole the headlines.

There was a big shunt on the second heat after a car spun right in front of the pack resulting in vehicles going in every direction and leaving Scott Allardyce, Scott Smith and Koddi Wright left against the pit gate.

There was a twist at the end to their final when Hannah Borthwick crossed the line to win her first race but, as the lower order crossed the line, Sam Cavanagh and Max Walker tangled, resulting in the Cavanagh car rolling and coming to rest on its side.

Luckily Sam stepped out of his car apparently unhurt and unfased by the action.

There were seventeen minis at the start to the meeting but only nine finished the allcomers race.

In the saloons Kyle Irvine (Glenrothes) had another good meeting starting off with third places in both of the heats.

In the final he made good progress through the field and towards the end of the race he had closed the gap to the leader.

However, he ran out of laps before he could close the gap sufficiently to challenge for the lead and had to settle for the runners up spot.

In the allcomers, Irvine finished in fourth with Watters in fifth.

There weren’t too many prostock basic drivers at the track although Johnny Young and Colin Ogilvie were making their debuts.

Young was the first to show when the final started but soon had K Ogilvie in second.

It took quite some time before K Ogilvie caught Young before he started to look for a way through.

There was a puff of smoke from the leader’s car which caused havoc and saw the K Ogilvie drift wide and G Dignan spin.

K Ogilvie began to close the gap but Young just managed to hold on to win.

There is another closed door session this week.
