It’s safety first at Kinburn as club members return

As the nation gradually gets back to normal after coronavirus lockdown, some of our clubs have started reopening their doors.

Golf clubs have been back in the swing for a few weeks, and the easing on restrictions has also seen bowling clubs allow members to return.

Amongst them is Kinburn BC who, over the past couple of weeks, say they have been “cautiously” reopening the green.

Any move to open the club again has been made in accordance with the regime developed by Bowls Scotland in conjunction with the Scottish Government as Covid-19 restrictions are relaxed.

Club president Stephen Tither said: “We are now moving to ‘Return to Bowls Phase 2’.

“The focus continues to be on appropriate social distancing and regular sanitising of hands and equipment.

“The club house remains closed and times on the green have to be pre-booked.

“Whilst no competition play, either internally or with other clubs is allowed, existing members and those wishing to try bowls for exercise at least now have the chance to practice and develop their skills.

“Pre-booking is required and full details of the restrictions in force can be found by visiting the club website at www.kinburnbowling.org.uk”

Also under Phase 2, in parallel with the reopening of children’s play areas and outdoor sports courts, currently advertised to be on 29 June, the club hopes to be able to offer limited access to the putting green to the general public during July.

This would be subject to the social distancing and sanitation requirements in force at the club.

Mr Tither added: “Please watch our website, which will provide all relevant information on opening times and safety requirements once these are known.”
