Sue Thomson from Cupar, Ian Ledward from Giffordtown and the Bollingham family, dad Kevin, daughter Cerys and son Harry, from Pitlessie, are members of Perth Archery club.

Presently, only outdoor archery is permissible, under strict regulations from the Scottish government and Scottish archery, and though there are many very good archery clubs in Fife, such as Cupar Bowmen and Kingdom of Fife Fletchers, in Kirkcaldy, they, unfortunately, do not have any access to an outdoor range due to a major lack of suitable sites in Fife. Perth Archery club, however, have access to a superb site at the Doo’cot cricket pitches.

Sue, who only recently joined Perth having been a long time member of Cupar Bowmen, said: “Being back on the range is really good after the long months of lockdown and thanks go to Allan Winter, club chair, for all his hard work in making this return to archery possible. It is a shame that Fife archers have to travel further afield for outdoor archery but with a lack of suitable sites in Fife to accommodate an archery range, then this is, unfortunately, our only chance to practice archery at longer distances and different conditions”.

This was a view agreed by Kev Bollingham, who added: “The kids are especially pleased to be back to shooting. And thankfully we all managed to to hit the target”.
