Members rally at Leven Thistle

Leven Thistle is taking steps to make sure golfers can get back to enjoying the local club once we’re allowed out on the fairways and greens again.

Like others across the country, the Leven club is having to tighten it’s belt and look at other ways of bringing in money while we’re in lockdown.

An online fundraiser has this week been lanuched with the Thistle saying corinavirus has impacted the club “dramatically” in the past couple of weeks.

Committee member Paul Galloway explained: “As a club, we are responding to the changing restrictions by setting up sub-committees to help the club during these challenging times, who along with David Gray (course manager) are working tirelessly to ensure that the club can be fully operational as soon as restrictions are lifted and the course is maintained to a standard that we have enjoyed prior to this crisis.”

Golfers have been rallying around their clubs during this difficult period and, at Leven Thistle, members are doing likewise.

To make it easier for them to donate cash, an online funding page has been created which has already generated over £1250.

“A number of our members have expressed a desire to donate to the club in this time of crisis and this attitude is a testament of the great club we have,” said Mr Galloway.

“The Go Fund Me page is there to offer members a platform to donate to help see us through this and any funds donated will be to strengthen our club and course going forward.”
