At last, the announcement motorsport fans have been waiting for.

Tentatively, it looks like mid-September will see the restart of stock car racing at the Cowdenbeath Racewall, although covid-19 may yet have a say in the matter.

There may be another practice session prior to the start of racing.

The third closed door practice session was again held in dry conditions, although the lap times were much similar to the ones chalked up last week.

However, in one of the Ministox heats Robbie Armit came across another car that had bounced off the wall and as he tried to pass was sent bouncing into the marker tyres and ended up on his side.

The morning session was solely for the Micro F2 drivers and there was some close racing with David Philp Jnr Jnr the quickest.

There weren’t too many Formula II drivers at the track but there was some close racing between Euan Millar, Gregor Turner (Dunfermline) and Paul Reid (Cowdenbeath).

Reid had made some alterations to his car over the close season and as the session progressed he was running as quick as the others which augers well for the remainder of the season.

In the Saloons there was little to choose between Kyle Irvine (Glenrothes) and Tam Rutherford Jnr whilst Andy Ainslie and Callum Smith were taking the chance to put as many laps as they could under their belt.

For sheer speed the National Hot Rod of Gordon Alexander churned out the quickest laps of the day as he put his car through its paces.

Amongst the ORCi Stock Rods was Euan Robertson who has built a Corsa C over the close season and took the opportunity to try to get the car running as quickly as possible.

There was little to choose in lap times between Liam McGill (Dysart) and Scottish Champion Michael Bethune (Kirkcaldy) whilst towards the end Leon Stewart was running strongly. Taylor Borthwick and David Dignan (Methil) ran in close order although at one time they did tangle with each other.

Kielan Ogilvie, Jamie Reid, Jake Mason and David Sher were basically clocking up the same lap times in their Prostock Basic cars whilst Sean McConnachie gave his Banger quite a few laps and a spin or two!

The ORCi Ministox drivers got plenty of track times with white graders Kyle Rogerson, Bailey Millar and Bobby Brandon showing up well.

Despite his roll Robbie Armit was the fastest and he will be looking forward to the Racewall restarting. Jay Paterson (Saline), Ryan Borthwick and Scott Allardyce (Anstruther) were on a par time wise, but were just slightly slower than Charlie Hardie.

That is the end of the practice sessions for now but, if things go to plan, there could well be another meeting the week before the resumption of the racing season.
