Steph Pennycook, who now works as a doctor in Leeds having graduated from Edinburgh University last summer, is clearly benefitting from her new training set up as she stormed to a personal best of 9.18.

Her time was good enough for first Scot and sixth place overall in a strong international field, which featured Danish World Championships 3000m steeplechase finalist Anna Emilie Moller and English Commonwealth Games 800m finalist Alex Bell.

Representing Scotland, Annabel Simpson and Jenny Selman ran road personal bests 9.36 and 9.42 respectively and were part of the bronze medal winning Scotland team.

Both Steph and Annabel will now have their eyes on individual medals at this weekend’s Scottish Cross Country Championships in Falkirk, where the club’s women will be looking to retain the team trophy they won for the first time last year.
