Tranent’s Cole in form as flag falls on racing season

It started off in the dry but, midway through the rain began and, whilst not too heavy, the track was wet and greasy at the end of the meeting.

It played havoc with some of the micro F2 drivers resulting in numerous spins althoughluckily nobody was hurt.

The micro F2s saw quite a few visiting drivers to the track but at the end David Philp, Rhys Anderson and Owen Marshall were having their last Racewall outings having reached retirement age.

There were double successes for Zak Gilmour in the saloons and Robbie Armit in the ministox whilst both Ben McLellan and Connor St Aubyn had double successes in the micro F2s.

The saloon races saw Barry Glen and Zak Gilmour collect heat wins whilst Gilmour won the final from Willie Mitchell and Kyle Irvine. Graeme Anderson rounded off the meeting by romping away with the allcomers race.

There was another good turn out of ministox drivers with Robbie Armit going on to win both of the heats.

Kia Gilmour won an action packed final from Armit and Lewis Clark Burgoyne. Ryan Borthwick made light of the wet conditions to win the allcomers.

There was a big turn of micro F2 drivers and they as usual served up some fast racing with local driver Cole Ramsay (Tranent) in good form.

Ramsay won on his first outing, ended up fourth in his second and in race six brought his car home fourth.

Racing writer Jim Turner said: “That is the end of a disappointing season that was to be the build up to 40 year since GMP started at Newtongrange.
