Volleyball squad gets ready for the Olympiad

Fife’s young volleyballers are preparing for this year’s twin-town Olympiad in Pontoise, France during July.

Other twin towns involved are Boblingen from Germany, Alba from Italy, Bergama from Turkey, Geleen from the Netherlands and Krems from Austira.

Part of their preparations saw them take part in Perth District’s Spring Cup competition at Bell’s Sports Centre where they played two matches. The first was against Kinross High School girls and the second against PLUS Perth Mental Health.

In their match against the Kinross High School girls the Fife side won the first set fairly convincingly and just edged the second set 26-24 to record victory.

Against seasoned adult players in the second match, it was experience which shone through with the youngsters struggling to cope with some of PLUS Perth’s play

Coach Coin McGinley was pleased with the workout which saw the team make progress in their positional play and transition play.
