With lots of championships on offer and the chance to accumulate points in the summer showing league, competition was of a very high standard in all classes.

Eleanor Crate had an excellent day taking both the Foreign Breed Championship and the Pony Championship with Greenbarrow Picture Perfect and the M&M Championship and the Two Tone Championship with Dunaskin Gimli.

Another competitor having a very successful day was Nicola Shields, who won the Coloured Championship and was reserve Champion in the Sports Horse/Pony classes, with CDS Casanova.

Nicola had much success with CDS Casanova last season and has started 2016 with a winning streak. Casanova is being aimed at the Royal Highland Show in June.

Morag Snow and her distinctive Clydesdale stallion, Gantby Arclid Flashman, took the Heavy Horse Championship and Andrea Meldrum and Drumgray were the Thoroughbred Champions.

The veteran champion was Follywood Diamonte ridden by Shonagh Wood and the leisure horse champion was Daniel Dowie and his cob Kito.

The Cob Championship was claimed by Rebecca Copland and Dolly XIII and this combination went on to win the Supreme Show Champion.

They also were reserve champion in the Coloured Championship.

Rebecca and Dolly XIII are seasoned showing competitors and have enjoyed considerable success.

They also compete in unaffiliated dressage locally.

This weekend at Highfield at Howe there is unaffiliated dressage and on Saturday, June 5, the centre will host its first combined training event. With dressage outside then a showjumping round, with the course built by the popular Graham Barclay, inside, competitors have the opportunity to tackle two different disciplines in one day.
