Rebecca and Dolly take the supreme championships

Riders embraced this idea with an impressibly large turnout of combinations competing for all the championships on offer.

The supreme champion of the day at the event was Cupar- based and Highfield regular, Rebecca Copland and Dolly XIII.

Becky and Dolly are very successful showing competitors and recently competed at the Royal Highland Show at Ingilston.

Dolly is a skewbald gypsy cob whom Becky has owned for several years and they have won wide acclaim in showing circles across their time together.

They also compete in unaffiliated dressage at local venues.

Reserve show champion was Marc Mitchell with Siangie Miami.

This is a new combination and this was the pony’s first ever competition so marking a great start to what must be a promising career.

Marc had a very successful showing season in 2015 with his piebald Oliver Twist which included a supreme show championship at Highfield at Howe.

The show included lots of fun classes including the prettiest mane and tail as well as the best six legs and all classes contributed points for competitors towards the Highfield at Howe Supreme Championship at the end of the year.

This weekend at Howe there is a two day showing show with several qualifiers for major shows, including the Ecosse Championships for Scottish native breeds and the Caledonia Showing Championships.

There will also be qualifiers for the Blair Castle Working Hunter championships on the day.

The regular monthly affiliated and unaffiliated dressage takes place on July 17 with a dressage training evening on the July 14.

Another unique event takes place on July 23 with a sale of horses and horseboxes at the centre.

Potential purchasers will have the opportunity to try out horses within the safety confines of an arena with a course of jumps also available.
