Record turn out by Falkland Trail Runners at parkruns

With little competitive racing opportunities locally over the weekend, Falkland Trail Runners attended a record number of parkruns.

Club members contested the 5k events at no fewer than 10 different venues which is a club record.

Perth saw six members compete in the flat one lap course of the North Inch.

Mike Murdoch,making his first appearance at the venue, led the squad home finishing 15th in 20 mins 15 secs.

Kevin Murray was just a few seconds behind in 23rd place in 20.44.

Daniel Kershaw finished 45th in 22.34 with Lynne Zabek setting a PB finishing 143rd in 29.33, husband Len was just one place behind recording the same time.

Alexa Tweddle was 155th in 30.59.

Camperdown Park had four members setting out on a recce to establish the layout of the course prior to FTR’s next ‘Club Championship Counter’ which takes place there on 8th April.

Andy Harley was first Skwerl home in 28th place 22.35 followed by 45th Keith Bonthrone 23.58, 65th Andy Cameron 25.42 and 122nd Paul Campbell 28.35.

At the Dunfermline parkrun in Pittencrieff Park, Alison Sutherland finished 22nd overall and 2nd female in 20.20. Her father Paul set a new course PB crossing the line in 39th position in a time of 24.36.

Members were out in force at St Andrews with Brian Cruickshank just missing out in beating his personal best time by a mere seven seconds over the three lap Craigtoun Park course finishing third in 17 mins 53 secs.

Selected finishers included three who did set PBs with Colin Smith in seventh place in 19.07, Bill Gillan was 50th 23.30.

The club had two top ten finishers at Kirkcaldy including Bryan Innes’ third place finish in 18.51.

Club President Tony Martin was in action at the Stirling Duathlon Sprint on Sunday taking the second Vintage prize recording a combined time of 1hr 33 mins 18 secs.

Some 10 members also contested the Birnam Hill Race while some lone Skwerls were in action at five other parkruns.
