The National 2 side voted in favour of voiding their season, with club president Graeme Hannah saying it was right call.

“In our league the top six or seven teams can all beat each other. It’s tight at the top.

“On paper there were three or four teams who could have won the league, it’s the tightest league in Scottish Rugby, that’s for sure.

“We felt null and voiding was probably the fairest outcome. I know it’s not going to make everybody happy.

“A few clubs are going to get hurt by it. Orkney were looking to get promotion to the national leagues for the first time, so they’ll be hurting a bit.”

By reaching the decision Graeme says it takes away the element of uncertainty.

“That was always going to be difficult to deal with.

“It was proposed to play games late in the summer, that gets harder with boys losing fitness and match sharpness.

“From that point of view, it was a no-goer, it’s just a pity that there’s no more rugby.”
