Runner Josephine just keeps on stepping it up

The local runner has been moving from 5k to 10k and then on to half marathons and marathons in quick succession during her time with the club, so it was no surprise when she took on her first-ever ultra marathon, the Stort 30.

The event is a 30 mile run along the banks of the River Stort near Bishop Stortford down in England.

An ultra marathon is any run greater than 26.2 miles and Josephine completed the run safely, despite some navigational problems along the way.

Other club runners faced up to the challenge of the first of this season’s Nightmare Series running in the dark through Ladybank Woods in the Halloween Nightmare event.

All proceeds from the racing series will go to charity and 75 runners joined in the spirit of nightmare running with 16 LLV swelling the throng.

The event is a huge success each year and this year’s series looks like building on those previous.

The event proved to be fruitful for Leven Las Vegas.

The club’s Chris Russell of won this first race.

There were more nightmarish scenes in Balbirnie Woods, but this time in daylight, when runners dressed in ghoulish costumes raced in the Grim Beaver Halloween Trail Race.

Chris Russell was third overall and Robin Pate won his age category.

At the parkruns Leven Las Vegas was well represented as usual with over 20 taking part and Peter Rieu-Clarke and Mark Maclean continuing to improve, setting yet more personal bests.

On a cold and blustery Sunday morning five LLV; Robin Pate, Tracey Millar, Karen Capewell, Bryan McLaren and Davie Hogg headed north to take part in the Templeton Ten.

The race sees those taking part head off on a steep, hilly and demanding run along the country roads to the north of Dundee, notorious for the gruelling uphill last mile to the finish line.
