Safyaan selected for Scots T20 squad

Falkland Cricket Club captain Safyaan Sharif has retained his place at international level after being named in Scotland's ICC World T20 squad.

The event will be held in India next month, and sees further recognition for Sharif who was also part of the country’s recent Twenty20 international series.

Scottish captain Preston Mommsen will lead his side into three first round matches against Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and Hong Kong in Nagpur, alongside Kyle Coetzer who has been named as vice captain.

Scotland will depart for Pune on February 22 for an intensive training camp before moving up to Mohali for two official warm up events against Oman and the Netherlands.

On the announcement of the squad Head Coach Grant Bradburn said, “It is great to be announcing an extremely strong and well balanced T20 squad for India. We have an excellent mix of youth and experience across the squad, with every player offering dynamic specific skills in this format.” The side has five warm up fixtures in India to adapt to conditions and to complete team preparation.
